The Shadow Caster — 3D Angles
The angle between a line and a plane is the angle between the line and its projection (shadow) on the plane.
"The shadow is the key. Find where the stick's shadow falls."
Toggle the shadow to see the magic. Imagine a ball dropping from the top of the line straight down.
Where does it land? That landing spot creates a right angle with the floor. That's your key.
Once the shadow appears, you'll see a right-angled triangle form. That's your SOH CAH TOA triangle.
Always identify: which is the height (Opp)? Which is the shadow (Adj)? Which is the slant (Hyp)?
Don't confuse the side of the base with the diagonal! In a square base, the shadow goes to the CENTRE via the diagonal.

Base = 10 | Height = 12 | Angle = 59.5°
❌ WRONG:
Using half the BASE SIDE as the shadow length in a pyramid.
✓ CORRECT:
Use half the DIAGONAL of the base (Pythagoras first!).
❌ WRONG:
Jumping to sin/cos without identifying the right triangle.
✓ CORRECT:
Always DRAW the 2D right triangle first. Label Opp, Adj, Hyp. THEN pick SOH CAH or TOA.
📊 Frequency: Very Common | 📉 Mark Impact: 3-4 marks | 💡 Method: "Drop → Draw → Trig"
