The Logic Track
📌 The Coefficient Rule
Watch how 3 becomes 9. Coefficients are normal numbers—they obey normal math. You raise the number to the outer power: 32 = 9.
⚡ The Power Multiplies
For x4, the outer power multiplies the inner:4 × 2 = 8. This is the index law: (xa)b = xab.
⚠️ Examiner Trap
Students forget to square the coefficient! (2x³)² is NOT 2x⁶. You must square BOTH: 2² = 4 and (x³)² = x⁶ → Answer: 4x⁶.
🎯 Foundation vs Higher
Foundation: Positive powers only. Higher: Negative and fractional powers (x−2 = 1/x², x1/2 = √x).
