Why does a crowded room of blindfolded people tell us everything about chemistry?
🎭 The Blindfolded Room Analogy
🐢 LOW CONCENTRATION
5 blindfolded people wandering in a hall. They almost never collide. Slow reaction rate.
🚀 HIGH CONCENTRATION
12 blindfolded people in the same hall. Constant bumping. Fast reaction rate.
The Chemistry Parallel: Each "person" is an H⁺ ion. The "room" is 1 dm³ of solution. More ions per dm³ = more frequent collisions = faster rate. Same logic applies to gases under pressure.
⚠️ EXAMINER TRAP #1
Students write: "Higher concentration makes particles move faster." ❌ WRONG. Temperature controls speed, not concentration. Concentration only increases the number of particles per unit volume, increasing collision frequency.
